Nathan Derry of Redlands placed first, second and fifth in the Boys 14-18 novice platform, 1-meter and 3-meter diving competitions at the 2020 Raincross Invitational Diving Meet held Feb. 8-9 at Riverside City College.
The Raincross Invitational is sponsored by Riverside Elite Diving, a club diving program based at the Riverside Aquatics Complex at Riverside City College. Diving teams and independent divers from Southern California, Arizona and as far away as Guadalajara, Mexico, participated in this year’s meet, according to a press release.
Nathan is a freshman at Redlands East Valley High School, where he is a member of the swim team and has maintained a 4.0 grade-point average.
He is also a member the Riverside Elite Diving Team, a team of 26 boys and girls led by former professional diver and interim University of Redlands diving coach Jimmy Adams.
Riverside Elite Diving was scheduled to host the USA Diving Region 12 Championships starting April 22 at Riverside City College, but that event has been canceled because of the coronavirus pandemic.
