VK Donald Trump hails Robert Kraft at the White House as Patriots owner makes his return to being a high-profile guest of the president after Florida massage parlor scandal President Trump publicly welcomed Bob Kraft back to the White House Wednesday as an attendee at the annual Hanukkah reception Trump labeled the New England Patriots owner a ‘champ’ and a ‘winner’ and asked him to say a few words about Israel Kraft had weathered a prostitution scandal earlier this year and had previously attended a low-key dinner at the White House over the summer By Nikki Schwab, Senior U.s. Political Reporter For Dailymail.com Published: 22:56 GMT, 11 December 2019 | Updated: 00:09 GMT, 12 December 2019 New England Patriots owner Bob Kraft made his public return to the White House Wednesday after weathering a prostitution scandal earlier this year. Kraft was called onstage by President Trump at the White House’s Hanukkah reception, with the president calling Kraft a ‘champ’ and a ‘winner.’ ‘He’s a tremendous success in so many other businesses, but they only know him because he signs Tom Brady’s check every week,’ Trump joked.

‘And as usual, his team is mired in first place. Have you ever been in second place? Not too often,’ the president commented. Trump brought up Kraft’s widow Myra several times. She passed away in 2011. And talked about how her death impacted both he and Melania. The president then offered Kraft the microphone so the businessman could say a few words about Israel. ‘Nobody closer to Israel than Bob Kraft,’ Trump said.

Kraft took the opportunity to compliment Trump for his decision to sign an executive order that’s designed to combat anti-Semitism, including on college campuses. ‘This is really a bipartisan issue,’ Kraft said. Trump had invited a number of moderate Democrats to join the Hanukkah festivities, including Reps. Max Rose of New York, Elaine Luria of Virginia and Josh Gottheimer of New Jersey, according to the list provided by the White House. Also on the guest list was Austin Polansky, a young boy who had written Trump a letter, asking to celebrate Hanukkah with the president and his family. Trump told the crowd of around 300 attendees that Austin was in the audience. He then beckoned him onstage. ‘Come on Austin, don’t be shy,’ the president said. ‘It’s only Bob Kraft.’ That line got laughs. While the New England Patriots won the Super Bowl in 2019, the team didn’t make an appearance at the White House this year. Kraft did appear at the White House in July, but for a dinner where press was only briefly allowed inside. Wednesday’s Hanukkah event was livestreamed for all to see. Last month, TMZ released audio of Kraft criticizing President Trump behind closed doors in October 2017.

A month earlier Trump had made hay about NFL player kneeling during the national anthem, suggesting in doing so they were offending the troops. The kneeling protests were inspired by Colin Kaepernick, who did so to protest racial inequality in the United States. ‘I must tell you, I think these dialogues are great,’ Kraft is heard saying. ‘But the elelphant in the room now in my opinion, is this kneeling, which every player has the right to do if they feel it’s right.’ ‘The problem we have is, we have a president that will use that as fodder to do his mission that I don’t feel is in the best interest of the matter,’ Kraft continued. ‘It’s divisive and it’s horrible. And it’s actually the oppostie of what you all are trying to do.’ :
