Follow Daily News Business Editor Bob Tremblay on Twitter @Bob Tremblay_MW NKF orchestrates sale of two Framingham office buildings Newmark Knight Frank (NKF) has completed the sale of 161 Worcester Road and 492 Old Connecticut Path in Framingham to Campanelli in a joint venture with TriGate Capital. Vice Chairman Edward Maher, Executive Managing Directors Matthew Pullen and James Tribble and Director Samantha Hallowell of NKF’s Boston Capital Markets team – which is led by Co-Head of U.S. Capital Markets Robert Griffin – oversaw the transaction of the two office/retail assets in conjunction with NKF Executive Managing Directors Michael Frisoli and J.R. McDonald and Senior Managing Director Tyler McGrail, who have been retained as the exclusive leasing agents for the properties. 161 Worcester Road comprises a 118,713-square-foot office building that is presently 85% leased and an adjacent 7,200-square-foot retail building that is fully occupied by Temazcal Tequila Cantina.

492 Old Connecticut Path comprises a 166,101-square-foot office building that is presently 94% leased. The area surrounding 161 Worcester Road and 492 Old Connecticut Path is home to a wealth of hotels and blue-chip employers, including Bose, MathWorks, MEDITECH, Staples and TJX – as well as the Natick Mall, which anchors Greater Boston’s most densely populated suburban retail concentration, and Framingham State University. OSHA cites Target at Danvers and Framingham stores The U.S. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) has cited Target Corp. for emergency exit access hazards at stores in Danvers and Framingham. The national retailer faces a total of $227,304 in penalties. OSHA inspectors found fire exit routes in backroom storage areas blocked by objects, such as packing boxes, products, rolling carts, metal bars, portable ladders, and a powered industrial truck. Since 2015, OSHA has cited Target Corp. for similar hazards at 11 stores in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York. Target Corp. has 15 business days from receipt of the Danvers and Framingham citations and penalties to comply, request an informal conference with OSHA’s area director, or contest the findings before the independent Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission.

Under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970, employers are responsible for providing safe and healthful workplaces for their employees. OSHA’s role is to help ensure these conditions for America’s working men and women by setting and enforcing standards, and providing training, education, and assistance. Application period opens for Energy, Environmental awards The Executive Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs (EEA) is now accepting nominations for its annual Secretary’s Awards for Excellence in Energy and Environmental Education until March 30. EEA Secretary Kathleen Theoharides will present awards this spring to Massachusetts teachers and students involved in school-based programs that promote environmental and energy education. All public and private Massachusetts schools (K-12) that offer energy and environmental education programs are eligible to apply for the Secretary’s Award. In 2019, 32 schools and nonprofit organizations across the state were recognized for their work including garden projects, outdoor classroom programs, watershed and vernal pool projects, and teaching about the environment through art and music. The Secretary’s Advisory Group on Energy and Environmental Education will review applications during the beginning of April 2020.

Qualified entrants are invited to attend a formal award ceremony with Theoharides at the Statehouse later in the spring. For more information, visit https://www.mass.gov/how-to/submit-your-nomination-application.
