Watch: NCAA offensive lineman from Modesto goes viral with driveway training drill
Dylan Ackermann
Green 80. Green 80. Set hut. Hut. Hut.”
There were no stadium lights, no crowd, no pads and no cadence. Just a driveway and the sound of Mason Baker exploding out of his stance in the middle of the night.
On Jan. 7, the Modesto native and former San Diego State and American River College offensive lineman posted a video on X showing himself working out in his driveway, declaring his ankle “100% healthy” one week after announcing his entry into the transfer portal.
The minute-long clip features Baker cycling through pass protection, run blocking, ladder drills and sprints — illuminated only by his garage and nearby car lights.
The raw setting didn’t slow the reaction. The video has since topped 3 million views and counting, drawing comments from prominent figures across the sports world.
“Light feet,” former Tennessee Titans offensive lineman Taylor Lewan commented, adding a side-eye emoji.
Former NFL linebacker Will Compton, a co-host of the Bussin’ With the Boys podcast, saw something deeper.
“Love seeing a ball player with his old man out in the driveway,” Compton wrote.
“Chasing a dream. Dropping sweat equity in the bucket. Metallica cranked on the speaker.”
Even Barstool Sports joined in, posting its own take on X: “Big boy Mason ‘Yeti’ Baker is reinventing the art of game tape by doing drills in his driveway.”
