Belmonts Dolly U offers hands-on projects, courses inspired by the Queen of Country
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — Dolly Parton and Belmont University announced a new slate of five spring 2026 “Dolly U” courses, expanding a partnership that blends academic study with hands-on projects inspired by Parton’s life, career, and business ventures.
The announcement follows a milestone for the program: 49 consecutive sold-out performances of “Dolly: A True Original Musical” at Belmont’s Fisher Center for the Performing Arts.
The spring courses span three colleges, Entertainment & Music Business, Business, and Liberal Arts & Social Sciences, and connect students to real-world projects tied to Parton’s creative ventures.
Among the offerings are:
Entertainment Marketing and Promotion — Students will design marketing campaigns for the “Dolly: A True Original Musical” soundtrack.
Partnership Marketing in Music — Students will study sponsorships and collaborations connected to Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum.
Strategic Communication for an Emerging Dolly Initiative — Students will develop communication plans focused on education and community outreach.
Dollyology: Branding, Leadership & Strategic Communication in the Dollyverse — A course examining Parton’s career as a model for branding and leadership.
Customer Relationship Management and Experience Strategy — Students will design guest experience concepts tied to Dolly’s Life of Many Colors Museum and the planned Dolly Parton’s SongTeller Hotel.
Belmont’s Department of Theatre and Dance will also tour a stage adaptation of Parton’s children’s book, “Billy the Kid Makes It Big,” to elementary schools across Davidson and Williamson counties this spring.
To mark the sold-out run of “Dolly: A True Original Musical,” Belmont President Dr. Greg Jones presented Parton with a custom ceramic bowl featuring a butterfly motif, created by artist Audry Deal-McEver.
“Watching 49 consecutive sold-out audiences experience ‘Dolly: A True Original Musical’ was nothing short of magical,” Jones said. “Dolly’s partnership has brought unprecedented creative energy to our campus.”
University officials said the Dolly U initiative reflects Belmont’s emphasis on experiential learning and community engagement.
