LSU Eunice elevates Nick Studdard to top baseball assistant
EUNICE, La. – LSU Eunice Baseball has announced the promotion of Nick Studdard as the top offensive assistant on the Bengals’ staff effective immediately. The move comes after assistant Tommy Goodale accepted the head coaching position at NAIA powerhouse Georgia Gwinnett College.
Studdard is set to embark on his second full season with the Bengals, having helped coach the offense with a defensive focus on catchers during the 2025 season.
“Coach Studdard’s work ethic and leadership abilities are second to none and he is a great example of what are DDCS principles stand for,” LSU Eunice head coach Jeff Willis said. “He’s another young talent in the coaching profession and I am excited to see him grow into these new responsibilities.”
Studdard will be joined by former Bengal standout Beau Kirsch on the offensive staff.
In his first year on the Cajun Prairie, Studdard helped engineer one of the best LSUE offenses in recent memory. The Bengals posted a team batting average of .340 to go along with 70 home runs – tying or just below the best marks for an LSUE team in more than a decade.
Prior to LSUE, Studdard has had stops at Baton Rouge Community College, Bowling Green State University, and Southern University.
In addition to his collegiate coaching experience, the New Orleans native has established himself as one of the most successful field managers in the Northwoods League, one of the preeminent collegiate summer leagues in the nation. Studdard enters his third season as the field manager of the St. Cloud Rox, having led the franchise to back-to-back 50-win seasons for the first time in league history.
He has coached with the Rox since 2021, being elevated to manager during the 2024 season. In his first summer as field manager, the Rox set team records for stolen bases and home runs in a single season, finishing the season with a 12th consecutive winning season. During his time with St. Cloud, Studdard coached 16 Major League Baseball selections including three that are already on MLB rosters.
Studdard played one season at Southern University before graduating with a bachelor’s degree in business administration (BBA) with a focus in supply chain management in December of 2022.
