[NFL Draft](https://nfldraftdiamonds.com/category/prospects/) [Prospect Interviews](https://nfldraftdiamonds.com/category/prospects/interviews/) 2024 NFL Draft Prospect Interview: Chris John, RB, University of Windsor - Name: Chris John - Position: RB/FB - College: University of Windsor - Height: 5?10 - Weight: 225 - Twitter: [chris_john_01](http://www.twitter.com/chris_john_01) - Instagram: [chris_john_01](https://instagram.com/chris_john_01) What makes you a top prospect at your position in the [2024 NFL Draft](https://nfldraftdiamonds.com/2024/02/marcus-reeb/)? -An element I embody that makes me a top prospect in my position in the 2024 NFL Draft is power and agility. I have uncomparable contact balance and body control when running the football. The strong power and great amount of muscle I hold allow me to break endless tackles in my run. I’m not only reliable at getting my team the first goal but also provide blocking ability to create lanes for the ball carrier. On special teams, I communicate with the team on assignments and ensure everyone is engaged in the play. At what age were you first interested in the sport of football? – I was interested in football at the age of 10 and played when I was 12 years old.

I was always the bigger and stronger child in the group and loved watching the game. What is one thing that NFL teams should know about you? – I am a hard-working, dependable player and teammate who is easily coachable and pivots effectively when faced with adversity. I can take constructive criticism from coaches and teammates and apply it to the game. I ask questions to gain clarity, doing so allows me to have a greater understanding of what is being taught or facilitated. I not only want to strive to be an exceptional player but create an environment in which my teammates can excel as well. If you could donate to one cause in the world, what would it be? – I would donate to Food Banks as everyone should be able to have access to food no matter the circumstances. A large number of food bank users are members of vulnerable groups, such as the elderly, children, and those with low incomes. When it comes to delivering emergency aid during crises like natural disasters, economic downturns, or public health issues, food banks frequently play a crucial role. Donations that are steady and consistent help food banks succeed over the long run. Donating to a food bank is an effective method to improve people’s lives and enhance the well-being of my neighborhood.

What is the best advice you have ever received? “Be patient, and time will tell”. This advice helped me a lot as I became someone I envisioned myself to be. There’s a lot of time that’s been put in and the work I’ve put in to be the best version of myself and it took a lot of time and patience. Who was your childhood hero? – My mom is my childhood hero! She is the hardest-working person I know, and she always has a smile on her face. She has helped me through all stages of my life and I’ve helped her through adversity we’ve faced. She’s the first person I think of when talking about being a role model, helping others, being grounded, supportive, and providing for our community. My mom had four jobs; being a mother figure, a father figure, working a full-time job, and a part-time job. Who is the most underrated teammate in your locker room at your school? – My brother, Jaylen John. He has the talent to play any position you throw him in. From 2022-2023, he played tight end for my team and only came in to play that position because we needed a good tight end. He provided me with the best holes and blocked me with an aggressive edge. About halfway into the 2023 season, he switched back to play on the D-line and gave our starting O-line a lot of trouble exposing weaknesses that we had to fix.

What is your biggest pet peeve? – My biggest pet peeve is not using time efficiently and effectively. Time is the most crucial commodity on this earth, spending my time on a craft and on enjoying time doing so makes me happy. I spend almost all my time with like-minded people and individuals who make me a better person. Who is your favorite teacher ever? – My favorite teacher is God. God has placed a great amount of obstacles in my life and I have learned so much from those obstacles. The life lessons God has taught me have made me who I am today, along with the decisions I’ve made and the people I’ve met. There are countless directions my life could have gone, but I trusted God to guide me on the right path. Overcoming adversity is what defines character, what was the hardest moment in your life to overcome? – My hardest adversity was financial. Coming from a single-parent home, it was hard to stay on top of bills. When I was 16, the first thing I did was look for a job and provide for my family. In the summer of 2017, I got my first job cleaning an amusement park and providing customer service to guests. Every paycheck I got went straight to my mom to help her with bills.

Having that second income helped a lot as my mom was already working 2 jobs. Tell me something about your school and why it is so special to you? The University of Windsor is special to me as in the past the university was not a good team and the university brought in a coaching staff that wanted to change the culture and bring in the right recruits. In 2019, I was a part of that, my head coach Jean-Paul Circelli brought me to his office and had a conversation about the vision, he said, “Our coaching staff came in with the intention of a rebuild and we think that having you on this team would help us with this rebuild and make this team a force to be reckoned with.” In 2022, we went to the quarterfinals, and in 2023, we went to the semi-finals finishing 3rd in OUA football. What makes this school special is seeing the rebuild happen and breaking records. From being at the bottom to being at the top, I’m grateful to be an asset to my team’s success. The team has many hard workers and doesn’t plan to stop anytime soon. If you could have any franchise restaurant in your house what would it be? – Mr.Jerk, there’s a Caribbean restaurant in Toronto called Mr.Jerk and they serve up Caribbean food that I enjoy.

What is your favorite snack food? – My favorite snack food is kettle chips, specifically Ms. Vickie’s sweet chili and sour cream. What is your degree in? – Communications, media and film (bachelor’s of arts- Honours) – Minor in Information and technology – Minor in Art history If you could sell yourself in one sentence what would you say? -As a committed and proficient football player, I bring enthusiasm, tenacity, and a dedication to perfection to the field. If you could compare your play to one player in the NFL who would it be? – Marshawn Lynch because his game and mentality when it comes to running the football correlates with my approach to the game of football. He always keeps his legs moving and has great contact balance. What is your favorite game to play at the carnival/theme park? – My favorite game to play at the carnival/theme park is High Striker. If you could have dinner with three people dead or alive, who would it be and why? – My grandmother and grandfather, as I would love to hear stories about the past and gain wisdom and teachings that would help with a better understanding of how they lived and apply it to my life. – Shaquille O’Neal. In interviews and podcasts, he has shared a lot of the same ideologies and thoughts that I relate to a lot and I think a dinner would further benefit my views and potentially gain a friendship.
