Caitlin Clark sets new Division I record for career 3-pointers in Elite 8 vs. LSU [Caitlin Clark](https://www.on3.com/db/caitlin-clark-162402/) made history once again. This time, she set the record for the most career 3-pointers made in Division I women’s basketball history. The shot came in the third quarter of [Iowa](https://www.on3.com/teams/iowa-hawkeyes/)‘s Elite 8 matchup against [LSU](http://bengaltiger.com). The Hawkeye superstar came firing out of the gates in the second half and nailed a 3-point bucket midway through the third. It was good her seventh 3-pointer of the game — and the 538th of her career. Behind Clark’s guide, the Hawkeyes’ lead ballooned to double-digits late into the quarter. The pressure is on LSU to fight back against Clark and Iowa down the stretch. This isn’t the only bit of history that Clark has made this year. She made headlines across the basketball world after breaking the all-time Division I scoring record, which was held by ‘Pistol’ Pete Maravich for several decades. Now, she’s broken a new record — against Maravich’s old team. Most recently, Clark set the NCAA single-season scoring record, surpassing former [Washington](https://www.
on3.com/college/washington-huskies/) star Kelsey Plum with 1,113 points. Clark is shattering that record with every bucket she makes. “I know I’ve given everything to this program,” Clark said in a postgame interview with ESPN’s [Holly Rowe](https://twitter.com/sportsiren) at the time. “There is a lot to be proud of. There were a lot of highs, a lot of lows. That’s what make these moments so special. And I’m just thankful, I’m grateful. Just going to soak this in.” The newest record comes as Clark continues her incredible run in the NCAA Tournament. After leading the Hawkeyes to a 21-point victory over [Colorado](https://www.on3.com/college/colorado-buffaloes/) in the Sweet 16 on March 30, by the time she checked out with fewer than two minutes left in the game and Iowa leading by nearly 20, Clark had 29 points, a whopping 15 assists to go with six rebounds. In what has become must-watch television, Clark puts on a scoring clinic each time she steps on the court. She has not finished under 20 points yet, with her season-low being 21 points against Florida Golf Coast. Clark is off to the WNBA as soon as Iowa’s run is over — but the Hawkeye superstar isn’t going to be one to go down without a fight.
Catch the exciting finish to LSU vs. Iowa live on ESPN as the Hawkeyes look to avenge their national championship game loss from a year ago. This time, a trip to the Final Four is on the line.
